Re: Ideas for Panzer Corps 2

Just cross-posting this here from the dev diary reply, because I think it's really important: Come on devs, you should know better :) Don't get distracted with fancy 3D unit graphics. You know we don't actually look at unit graphics, especially not after a while: we look at unit type position on the...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Christmas special! Dev Diary #7

Come on devs, you should know better :) Don't get distracted with fancy 3D unit graphics. You know we don't actually look at unit graphics, especially not after a while: we look at unit type position on the grid . The "discount badges" are no good - there's no clear way to tell the unit type at a gl...

Re: A big thank you to PC2 developers

Criticism has its place, but I find it to be overused. My personal opinion is that no design decision in Panzer Corps 1 is so inherently flawed that it would merit criticism. Sure, some things could've been done differently, but that's what PC2 is for. A good gaming system will have coherent structu...

A big thank you to PC2 developers

Playing Panzer General, and then years later stumbling upon Panzer General Forever by chance, I could already see that a brilliant mind can achieve a lot when dedicated to a certain goal. In this case, preserving Panzer General for future generations. Thus, I had no doubt when I saw Rudankort's name...

Re: Crossing the Suez Canal

You don't really need to cross the canal en masse, though. A few units will suffice and targets on the other side are within bombardment/airforce range from your side of the canal.

Re: Afrika Korps army composition

The Italian Stuff is Good enough to go through the whole Afrika Campaign on Rommel and Field Marshall with a Decisive Victory in Every Scenario without using any German Unit (and that includes immediate Disband of all SE Units) except Scenario #1. Of course it is doable. However, German units are s...

Re: Afrika Korps army composition

I played through AK again, this time with my suggested core setup. Everything felt spot-on, except I'd take 2 Panzer II Flamm tanks instead of 1 HW infantry and 1 recon. Having 3-4 AA units definitely a must. The two italian SP artillery pieces we get for free are actually pretty powerful, especiall...

Re: Afrika Korps army composition

I differ from the view that AK is different from the Russia campagn as to the tank-battles: quite opposite - both (wide open) terrains are ideally suited for tankbattles - in contrast to infantry battles. There is no doubt there are numerous tank battles in AK. In my experience, encounters with ene...

Re: Favorite tank topic

Tiger I is my favourite, both in game and historically. It was a piece of elegant design, ahead of its time.

Although technically not tanks, to me the visually most stunning are Sd.Kfz.232 6-rad and 8-rad with their hexagonal geometric design. Forget jeeps - these just look badass :)

Re: Afrika Korps army composition

Edited the OP for clairty.

The StuG is the first AT that can actually hold it's own in enemy turn, but again, its use is limited. AK maps are very well made, and they require a really tidy end of turn. I don't trust AT guns to hold the line.

Afrika Korps army composition

I played through AK on "General" difficulty. While this might differ on higher difficulty level, I found that the usual "loads of tanks" strategy doesn't cut it anymore, especially beyond Egypt. Some observations: 1. Infantry Wehrmacht infantry isn't as effective in the desert. Because of desert mov...

Re: AK: Persia convoy

There are two convoys: one starts in the south, one in the far south-east. For this scenario I split my army into two groups; one pushed North-East through the Soviet lines, while the main thrust was East over the sand dunes. The US forces are well entrenced and it will take all your artillery firep...

Re: BearCorps

I'm not kidding and this is not a Panzer Corps 2 scenario, but a way to introduce the Panzer Corps core game mechanics to a wider audience. The core mechanics would work great even if the game wasn't about killing. Many other games for mobile devices follow this path, where they take a well known an...

BearCorps

I was thinking how to get more public visibility for PanzerCorps games and then it hit me! Make a Panzer Corps game but with animals! For kids! Bears for tanks, Birds and insects for air force etc. Actually sounds pretty awesome in my mind. I think one of the primary reasons why PC didn't sell as MU...

What PC2 should and should not be

Hi there, let's get right into it. It might come as a surprise, but when Panzer General came out, the biggest "wow effect" for many of us wasn't the gameplay, but it's hi-def graphics and the mouse. The gameplay itself, which was brilliant and innovative in its own ways, wasn't that new for Amiga ow...

Re: Tactical bomber effectivity

They can rescue you from a bad situation; they can take out the most threatening AI unit (IS tank, AI artillery in range of your defending infantry etc) before it can hurt or at least, they are guaranteed to be in the very spot where your attack is spearheaded. Yes, and this is exactly the role the...

Re: Tactical bomber effectivity

I don't understand this hype over tactical bombers tbh. For tactical bombers in PC to outright kill an enemy tank, they need a high enough attack, 13-14 overstrenght, the tank needs to be in open terrain, and weather needs to be "clear". In a similar fashion, for AA guns to outright kill enemy aircr...

Re: Panzer Corps on Steam - Success or not?

I've noticed a trend that helps you get visibility on steam: Join the big % sprees on steam (like Black friday) to get initial visibility. Live off DLCs I guess :-/ This will in turn put you, hopefully, onto the Top Sellers charts as well. At least temporarily. And finally, people will notice your D...

Re: Panzer II Flamm: Hot or not?

Yeah I turned Rondorf into a Panzer IV, too. I have two SE Panzer IIIN at the moment and will reach the outskirts of Stalingrad soon. Time to think about the future city fighting. Another problem with the Panzer II Flamm is that I don't want to "downgrade" an experienced tank to this kind of specia...
