Re: Rejecting Armistice w/France a must for Sealion?
If Sealion is in the cards, then accepting the French armistice offer makes the most sense. If you reject the French armistice, then you may have to spend time chasing leftover French units around on the continent, and France will likely still have its air force and navy to assist Britain.

Re: Naval Warfare as Axis
I wonder how many U-boats are enough. Typically I end up with seven (two for each of the three convoys, plus a spare for rotation and upgrading). The U-boats have happy hunting till about 1943, when they must start being very selective because of increased Allied effectiveness (including US entry). ...

Re: Plaid vs Vokt CEAW GS 3.2 beta AAR
I've been play testing version 3.2 in the Mac group. Like some other commentators on this thread, I don't think that the 3.2 air ranges are the problem. Although the new ranges allow Allied strategic bombers to reach Berlin from Britain, the extended air ranges also work to the advantage of the Axis...

Re: Discussion about change to XP rules v3.10
Reducing the "easy" experience points from attacks against garrisons, and giving extra value to experience gained against elite units, sounds like a good and balanced way to approach this problem. In a game I'm playing right now (as the Axis), experience has raised the strength some units ...

Re: Discussion about change to XP rules v3.10
What problem is this proposed change trying to solve? In other words, why and how will the game be better if these changes are adopted? (I can see that morale levels would become even more important than they already are; and that units with low morale or effectiveness would be unlikely to become Gu...

Re: Alert about current total of Italian surrender cities.
A little uncertainty would be fun, from a gaming point of view. On the other hand, version 3.10 has been completed, so perhaps this is an idea to put aside for the time being.

Re: AI and 3.0
Neither side is "easy," but the Axis have little margin for error. One or two boneheaded moves and the Axis goes down in flames. (I speak from unhappy experience.) The game is more forgiving of Allied missteps.

(Hint: play the Allies the first few times. Watch what your opponent does with the Axis, and build up your skills from there.)

Re: Battle vs Morris 2nd Edition
Battle, As the Germans I've tended to invade Denmark/Norway immediately after Poland in 1939. Norwegian mopping up operations extend into spring 1940, but in the meantime most of my forces are readied for Case Yellow and they launch as soon as the mud dries in February or March 1940. Going into Denm...

Re: Battle vs Morris 2nd Edition
Thanks, Battle. I've been playing CEAW for quite some time now, but in every AAR I learn something. Watching you bravely take on the Mighty Morris and figure out his tactics, as well as your thoughts on what you should have done, is very instructive! Lessons learnt. A question for Stauffenberg: if t...

Re: GS3.0 - Supermax (Axis) vs Dan Slayer (Allies) - Max wel
I notice you've committed quite a few British ground units to the French battle. I guess the payoff is that these units delay the Germans. But isn't it risky to put so many British units in the line of fire, at a time when Britain has a small PP income and the Germans may be in a position (post-Fall...

Is 3.1 on its way to becoming the official, publicly released version? Or is 3.1 more in the way of an experiment?

Re: Vokt (axis) vs JimR (allies) 3.0 AAR
Thanks to Vokt for a thorough and beautifully illustrated AAR. Reviewing it now was like a stroll down memory lane. He won a well-deserved victory. Along the way I made some significant mistakes and poor decisions, and I have learned from Vokt's comments and comments of others what some of these mis...

Re: GSv3.00 Historical Game Between 2 Equally Skilled Oppone
A good AAR, thanks. I've enjoyed following it and I've learned a lot. The thought about Axis fighters (lots of them, with focus on fighter tech) gives me something to consider in future games. Usually, as the Axis I've emphasized tac bomber technology in the early years (1939-41), and I think I've t...

Re: Thru the Maginot: Strategic Europa (no Carlos pls)
With so early fall of France it should be possble to consider a Sealion. Well, i wanted FRance to fall early, but now considering conquering the damn place. There are no brits or almost none, whats there been neutralized. French offensive power also neutralized, my other offensive planned for next ...

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies
Let's watch what happens to Dyle stratagems in a number of 3.0 games. If Dyle turns out to be a consistent Axis killer, then raising its cost to the Allies (or prohibiting an Allied DoW altogether against Belgium) may be necessary. But if Axis players can find a way to counteract Dyle, then it's bet...
