Re: Victory or Death! Order of Battle: Endsieg has been announced!
To Andy2012: Duuuuude, if I've bought the product, it gives me the right to criticize it. WTF does destructive mean? And "whiney undertone", here I thought the job of moderator was to limit personal attacks, not a license to make them. You didn't even bother to address a single point made ...

Re: Victory or Death! Order of Battle: Endsieg has been announced!
Oh great, another Deutschland über alles hypothetical, fantasy scenario. This follows along the lines of the idiotic Kriegsmarine scenario, where the German Navy, which wasn't even a threat to the GB Navy, let alone one joined by US naval forces, prevails. Are you people Nazis? You do realize that t...

Re: Kriegsmarine - Thumbs Down
I don't understand those people who claim they don't care about historical accuracy. Why is it a nitpick to expect a game supposedly about WWII to be historically accurate? Why bother to go to the trouble to realistically model a wide variety of weapons used during the war (land, air, and sea) if th...

Re: Kriegsmarine - Thumbs Down
It's not the graphics or mechanics of the game that really bother me. They're fine, and I have no real problems with how aircraft are managed, artillery fire, and many other things some of the players here dislike. I know that certain compromises have to be made to keep the game playable. What I car...

Re: Kriegsmarine - Thumbs Down
I'm fed up with OoB releasing really substandard war scenarios. I've been a reliable customer, buying all of their DLC. This expenditure gives me a right to criticize them when they are as bad as Blitzkrieg and particularly Kriegsmarine are. For those who suggest I become a beta tester or join the a...

Re: Kriegsmarine - Thumbs Down
I agree with most of the criticisms posted by long time players. One thing seemingly not mentioned, most of the scenarios are really boring. I won them all easily just using mostly big ships (CAs & BBs) to slowly destroy the enemy ships piecemeal, repairing damage with support ships. The only sc...

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
kondi, the difference in both quantity and quality was overwhelming. I think this short movie of US planes in flyby over the surrender ceremonies in Tokyo Bay sort of sums up how the US won the war. You've never see so many planes at one time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRHpeAOo2p4

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
Again I don't know where you're getting your numbers at. I urge you to check out the Imperial Japanese Navy Page (http://www.combinedfleet.com/kaigun.htm), which has a wealth of information about all aspects of the Japanese Navy. The Japanese would have had only 6 fleet carriers till well into 44 (g...

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
I actually advocated having more planes on carriers in some earlier thread. My idea was that fleet carriers would have 6 aircraft slots (each being half the current strength). This would allow for much more flexibility, half the fighters could provide CAP, half could escort dive bombers and torpedo ...

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
BNC, you seem to want to argue that the Japanese are somehow ubercompetent and never suffer any real losses in either men or equipment, plus somehow miraculously replenish their resources, while the US, despite having more manpower, greater economic productivity and resource availability, and more a...

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
The real problem facing the Japanese was that they begin the war at their peak strength and afterwards constantly decreased in capability, because their economic production and available resources could not replace inevitable losses. The US meanwhile started at about parity with the Japanese and the...

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
LadyLex, I understand the point you're trying to make, but if it was applied to all units (land, air, sea) the game would have so many units (100s likely) it would be virtually impossible to play. I'm not totally happy with the mechanics of the game, but at least they work fairly well and are not ov...

All I get for the 3 Mac sites are a 404 error and site not found. Why does every update need to be a trip to the dentist? It's almost 2017, make this simple please.

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
The essential fact of WWII is Germany and Japan were both at a huge disadvantages in manpower, resource availability, and economic production (Germany could not even outproduce the USSR). The longer the war continued the worst their situations became. That's why both tried for quick knockout blows a...

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
When I mention realism or historical accuracy, it's not meant to be taken as demanding that the scenarios play out exactly as they did in real life. I want a game that I can replay to different conclusions, but I want the game to model the starting conditions based on those that actually took place....

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
If you are going to claim your game is a WWII war game, then it needs to attempt to realistically model what happened. The developers seem to have tossed that aspect in the Blitzkrieg scenarios. The Germans were usually racing against time at this point in the war. Get to Dunkirk before the Brits ev...

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
WarHomer, the consensus of those in the now, war historians, etc, is while Midway certainly was the turning point of the War in the Pacific, essentially assuring Japan would lose, it would have made no real difference to the eventual outcome if the US had lost all 3 carriers and all their aircraft. ...

OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
I've tried replaying many of the scenarios in Blitzkrieg, but every replay just frustrates me more. The developers have decided to essentially ignore the historical realities of these battles, other than their geographical settings. Virtually every battle starts with the Germans at a 3/4 to 1 disadv...

Re: OOB Pacific needs some tuning.
While I agree based on the above numbers the game could use a little tweaking of aircraft, the fact is there were so many different models of each aircraft that it is hard to claim definitive numbers for speed, range, etc. The Zero was obviously a better fighter than the Wildcat (though US pilots so...

Re: Dunkirk
kondi754, I agree the developers should have given us a scenario of the German Panzer breakout from the Ardennes and subsequent race toward the English Channel. That is the first and most significant Blitzkrieg action ever, introducing the world to the concept of Blitzkrieg. The Battle of Arras wher...
