Starting Locations Equal??

There seem to be many starting locations (70ish??). In a couple other games I've played, I've started out as a tribe in Spain. The problem has been that that location really could not complete with the 5 or so biggies in the game. Eventually, after x number of turns, Carthage arrives with troops far...

City Hex: Production??

If I highlight my capital, then right click, it shows, in one line: yields about 5.5 food and 0.4 wood (or some such numbers). (When the city hit pop 3 it was showing a food yield of 9.3.) What is this yield? Is this what the city hex itself is producing? But then that doesn't seem to show in the fo...

Re: release in early or late 2019?

P.S.

Will you still be asking for new beta testers? Never did hear back and was still faintly hoping!

Re: release in early or late 2019?

I have TRIED to follow the Paradox videos, highlighting play. They are impossible to follow. Am hoping, like the initial dev diary here, that you post detailed bits about individual parts, how they work, what they affect, etc. Start with some place other than Rome, and lead me through how the first ...

Re: Impressive game

I like to try the smaller civs on heroic to see if I can get anywhere. I like the challenge of a small area.

More Final Doom

The lone Carthaginian sword sliced + diced through the nomads and capital fell. At least I got a bit further! :) The problem seems to come down to: The Carthaginians approach/encircle the city, cutting off food supply. To attempt to attack out into plains or grasslands is suicide with warriors.

Starvation Rears Its Head

Our reaching the military goal granted us a 3rd warrior unit somehow but this caused even more food shortages. When the hordes finally showed, we sealed up in the capital but slowly starved. Just by the hair on the goddess's 'chin' our nomads took the Carthaginians down even as all 3 warriors died. ...

Rebirth!

Oh the Gods are Fickle! Seems the previous outcome was just a bad nightmare. ;) The Carthaginians head into Massilian territory, letting us recruit a 2nd group of warriors. We keep our distance, but when a wounded Carthaginian unit (swordsmen at that!) runs south into our lands, we pounce. Some obje...

Re: Doom in 10 Years!

I found I could hold my own when defending the capital with 2 nomads + 1 warrior. But they surrounded and food was nonexistent, so I had to attack out and that weakened my troops. There were just too many Carthaginian units.

Final Doom

We are unable to survive the Carthaginian onslaught. While we destroyed several units, more smarmy swarms kept coming.

Hordes at Sea

Our Lands Ravages, Our Sea Despoiled

The Carthaginian swine swarm the seas, but we finally have troops capable of meeting them in battle. Will we endure?

Re: The Bull Rises: Iberian Empire!

Relations We sign a treaty of friendship with the Greeks to the northeast and then a trade deal as well. While meager (1 food from us for 1 influence from them), it's a start! Carthage arrives, pushing it's might and attitude around. But they seem more concerned with our Greek friends (sorry but rat...

Expansion While managing to survive the harsh years with enough food to fill our bellies, land has been claimed to the north and east and now we claim Illercavonia as part of our lands. 02a Establishing.jpg Vaebriga has been established to the northwest in fertile lands. The Bull Rises: Iberian Empire!

Beginnings A city has been founded in the hills of Iberia where fertile fields offer the prospects of abundance. Surrounded by harsh mountains and even harsher neighbours, can the foundlings survive? 01a Founding.jpg [I thought, with the latest patch, I'd come back to the Iberians in the Mediterrane...

Re: Doom in 10 Years!

No, had the 4 nomads trying to claim some land. After that, yes, since Carthage kept showing up around turn 12. :( It's an interesting challenge. I helped the food crisis a bit by using 1 nomad to found a city to the northwest where there is fertile land. But then Carthage appears and am just comple...

Doom in 10 Years!

Well, I thought, with the latest patch, I'd try the Iberians again in the Mediterranean. Heroic. I lasted 10 years before my food supply crashed. Various attempts met with the same result. The single city becomes damaged and am unable to repair because of not enough word + stone. Has anyone tried pl...

Re: True History of Carthage

Year 15 Since the Founding We control the fertile lands west of the New City and our people have connected the valuable gold resources to the south to the city as well. A second frontier city has been established in the hills to the south, for we do not know what people may live in those further reg...

True History of Carthage

Year 1: The Founding of the New City [Heroic; all settings default] Located on fertile land blessed by rivers and a sheltered coastline, our people found the first major city of our land. We simply call it the New City. Resources of all types can be found within reach of workers from the city. 01a T...
