Re: Fantasy game
If you go back to something like Chainmail (the miniature rules that spawned D&D), the fantasy elements basically modified the existing rules in different ways. Different kinds of fantasy units are pretty straightforward: give them different types, capabilities, and modifiers on cohesion tests. ...

Re: Can someone help me to clarify FOG rule, 2.0 and 3rd ed?
My understanding is: The Field of Glory (A&M) tabletop miniatures rules were/are: Field of Glory (original book) - probably only available used. Field of Glory 2.0 (revised tabletop rules, book) - available from Slitherine. A relatively minor update. Field of Glory 2.0 Reader (revised tabletop r...

Re: Wine and Linux
Thanks! I'm enjoying it. Great game, and it has more of the "feel" of the tabletop game. Also, another Linux/Wine tech note: I switched to Wine 3.10 (staging) with the Gallium Nine patches (native Linux Direct3D 9 via Mesa). When using Gallium Nine, the fullscreen mode works fine, and I'm ...

Re: Wine and Linux
I went ahead and purchased it. I'm happy to say that I was able to get it running on Linux with Wine. I just played through the first tutorial battle and so far everything seems to be working, so I'm pleased. I did have an initial issue with the game not being able to set the graphics mode, but I ch...

Wine and Linux
Has anyone had any success running Field of Glory II on Linux using Wine?
I've run the original Field of Glory using Linux/Wine for years, but I haven't purchased Field of Glory II (I don't have a PC running Windows, at this point). Wondering if there's any hope.

Re: Field of Glory 2.0.4 reader available!
I only recently acquired the FoG 2 physical book, and was thinking I might get the reader, as well, but poking around the web site it seems that it is no longer available for purchase. Is it simply discontinued and no longer available?

Re: Supporting the Original Field of Glory
I never did get that setup.exe to download, but you don't need it. Install 1.5, then update to 1.8.1. Version 1.8.1 has the available expansions (including LT) pre-loaded, you just need to enter your serial numbers to unlock them. You don't actually need to apply the expansion setup executables.

Re: Supporting the Original Field of Glory
The only solution is to register the army pack serial via the fog daf game menu. Do not try to use the installer they do not work. Just ut the serial number there and it will be ok Yes, I agree. That was what worked, for me. (What threw me off when using Wine was that running FieldOfGlory.exe didn'...

Re: Field of Glory works in Linux under WINE - yeahh
Re: FoG(RB) under Wine I now have Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows, and Legions Triumphant working. I realized I was making a mistake when running FoG under Wine. I had been running it using the FieldOfGlory.exe, and I should have run it using FOG.exe. Using FOG.exe allowed me to enter my serial number...

Re: Field of Glory works in Linux under WINE - yeahh
Do you notice any speed reduction in the game because you are not running it in a native Windows environment? No, performance seems normal. FWIW, Wine doesn't usually impose significant performance penalties since it doesn't use emulation or a virtual machine; it basically translates Windows API ca...

Re: Supporting the Original Field of Glory
I have a separate question on the installers for ROR and SOA. I have valid serial numbers for both of those, but am having a problem installing them. (I successfully installed IFR, SAS, and ETE, though.) When I run the setup EXE for ROR and SOA, I get to the point where it asks me for my serial numb...

Re: Supporting the Original Field of Glory
LT.exe is not downloading  I'm sorry, you have to be more clear. Can you please explain what's not downloading? I'm experiencing a problem with this, too. When I go to the page for "Registered Downloads : Field of Glory - Legions Triumphant" and click on the EXE Download link for Leg...

Re: Field of Glory works in Linux under WINE - yeahh
I no longer have a Windows computer (I used to dual boot my Linux system, but decided to abandon Windows entirely when I replaced my system hard drive a while back), and haven't played FoG Digital in a while. Decided to give it a shot under Wine. Here's what I found: I'm running Arch Linux on kernel...

Re: Newbie Question
In addition to screening your shock troops (i.e. those prone to anarchy charges) with skirmishers, it's worth noting that drilled shock troops are less prone to anarchy charges, as are troops within command radius. Inspired commanders are the best for preventing anarchy charges, and are even more ef...

Re: FoG:AM v2 - improvement suggestions for electronic forma
Not only that, iOS7 seems to have knackered the e-rules on the one platform they did work on. Why not just sell a PDF and keep everyone happy? Heck, even an HTML5 version would be better, IMO. I suspect the answer to "why not" is concerns about DRM. Personally, I think that's a misguided ...

Re: Essen preview of new reader
Continuing to use the Abannan platform as the basis for the digital rules given the Abannan track record seems to make the whole idea of digital rules a harder sell. At this point it may be time to realize that you've backed the wrong horse and to completely re-think your digital strategy. This. Co...

Re: V2 Hardback. Poor quality, poorer customers service
I think the real problem with the tablet version of FoG was the choice of the Abannan reader. With the combination of only supporting the iPad for the tablet platform and the very limited functionality of the reader... This is what prevents me from purchasing the digital/tablet rules. I have an And...
