Re: BA2:EF Steam Deck

Great! Please consider reporting your success on protondb: https://www.protondb.com/app/306640

Now to figure out why BA2 stopped working on desktop Proton. :(

Re: BA2:EF Steam Deck

You can try changing Resx and Resy to 1280 and 800 respectively.

The original tweak to get BA2 running on desktop Proton, changed Fullscreen to 0, but I'm not sure if that applies on Steam Deck since the game should run full screen.

Re: BA2:EF Steam Deck

I tested BA2 on Linux desktop with Proton 7.0 and get the same result as topninja, so the problem isn't specific to Steam Deck. BA2 worked very well on Linux/Proton before, but I haven't played in a while, so I don't know when BA2 stopped working.

Re: Newbie

You can only do it during deployment. Select the unit you want to move. Right click on a unit in the destination formation. One of the options in the popup transfers the selected unit.

Re: Fantasy General II & Proton

I'm use an AMD HD6970 with open source drivers. GPU is about 10 years old so, yeah, it's ancient! :D Well done on those Free drivers! I didn't think AMD had Free drivers (equivalent to the Nouveau project for Nvidia.) AMD supports the free drivers very well. They publish all GPU ISAs and contribute...

I really need to upgrade but I'm broke, unfortunately, so it will be awhile before that happens.

Re: Order of Battle & Proton

Proton is Steam's compatibility tool which allows Windows games to run on Linux.

Re: Field of Glory II & Proton

Note that gold indicates level 2 success because OPTION.TXT file requires a tweak. FOG2 crashes the first time it is run but forcing the game to full screen in OPTIONS.TXT fixes the crash. I have almost a 1000 hours on FOG2 with Proton to prove it. :D

Re: Order of Battle & Proton

Note that gold indicates level 2 success. Linux users with newer GPUs report success because DX11 works much better on Proton with DXVK support, which is only available on those newer GPUs. OOB does run on my old GPU but the performance is too laggy to be enjoyable, unfortunately.

Re: Fantasy General II & Proton

Gold is level 2 success. It's only gold because it requires DXVK support for DX11 to work properly. DXVK is only available on newer graphics cards so FGII doesn't work on my old GPU.

Re: SnuggleBunny's FoGII, Pike n Shot, Sengoku MP Channel

Ha thanks guys. It'll probably be a bit until I have more to upload, as games take 1-3 weeks and I just started recording. Once I do start wrapping up more matches though, I should be able to upload them within a day. One of the reasons I enjoy live streaming my game play is the immediacy (and the ...

I assume a mirrored battle counts as two challenges, correct?

Re: Order of Battle Linux

Order of Battle requires DX11. On Proton, DX11 is translated into Vulkan by default. Check that your graphics card supports Vulkan. If Vulkan is not supported, the following launch option will use Wine's standard OpenGL backend: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% The game is playable, but a bit laggy, w...

Rallying units

Is there any way to rally units faster than just letting them sit idle off the front line?

It's a pity there are no officers in the game.

Re: Elephants

Is the .s3f model format documented? From what I can tell the Battle Academy engine (is that STUB?) is the only one that uses it. The extension is .s4f. Well actually that is not quite right. The models in the game are .s4f, but these are encrypted and cannot be modified at all, even if you were a ...

Re: Elephants

There is a plugin to support converting 3d models to the ..s3f format, but I think it only works with older versions of Blender and/or Python which is another required program used for the conversion process. The plugin used to be available on these forums, I think it is in the Battle Academy modde...

The extension is .s4f.
