Re: DLC plans past Red Triology

A DLC that add Random scenario generation would be nice (like in many other wargames out today ..) - and as an addition an addaptive AI so exist scenarios can be used only the Map and the side (ply vs AI or Pl1+pl2 vs AI ...) can be free selectable ... (and an upgrade to the strategic map to make he...

Re: Multiplayer - Would you change anything?

Have mostly stoped Multiplayer play of OoB ... it is a nice single player game - but i play most MP - with 2 or3 or even 4 players ... and the MP abilitys from OoB is even with only 2 player very low ... no free choice of wich formation (P1 vs P2 or P1+P2 vs AI) and is even much more limited by more...

Re: The PzC 2 storm is finally here.

For me the biggest difference from OoB and PzC2 is the multiplayer playability in OoB you are hard restricted with few multiplayer maps and combinations (player 1 vs Player 2 or Pl1+Pl1 vs AI ...) in PzC2 this is alone with the random scenario generator much better I can understand, for an strictly ...

Re: I still don't like the way PzC 2 looks.

I am in the PzC2 beta test - and i would say ... its dont i like the GFX "not at all" ..... but i musst agree .. the scaling from environment<>units look to "fake" ... But the one thing that shine for me, as an real advantage from PzC2 over OOB is the random map generation - and ...

Re: Beta Boost - Dedicated Testers Wanted!

Like to test this out .... have OoB and i am not realy satisfied with many of his game mechanics .. it is not bad ..... but not good as well ...
(i think the most positiv point from OoB is the GFX and easy UI in comparsion to other hardcore strategic games - here looks PC2 get close ;) )

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

This are 2 different things .... If you play an spcific battle - then the start positions and army size and units musst be the same as in the historical battle ... but this dont mean the outcome is every play the same - but you are right - it "cant" full differ, as the terrain, start value...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

But the "what if" only matters have the outcome an realistic value ...
If it only an unacurat simulation - then the outcome maybe is at your liking - but nothing that would happen in real ... so (for me) pointless ...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

I guess this subject is interesting to people. I had this thought regard scale: using Someri as an example, any artillery on the island should be able to target any other hex because the distances are so small. On the other hand, during the climactic Battle of Tali-Ihantala the Finnish use of artil...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

I say not all "musst" have the same size (the size the game rules and values designed for ...) But at last the officiell scenarios should have all the "right" size - and custom scenarious can be marked as "Different Size = x KM Hex" .. so the player where like to stay o...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

Personally, I'm really glad games don't look like this anymore. Nostalgia's nice, but outdated.  I don't know about this. I used to love JTCS and this is obviously an update and expansion of that. If so, and it gets off the ground, I may find my grognard time and attention . . . div...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

Would i prefer an nice 3D gfx with full variable sight hight and angle ... yes (but this have even OoB not - and it is 3D ..................................... ) But as an fan of "realistic" war simulating - i prefer the game with more realism "over" nice GFX .... if i need only ...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

hc_002.jpg The actual v2.01 CampaignSeries Middle East And i dont prefer CampaignSeries over OOB - as it was say - both are totaly different Scales .... But if the OOB scenarios more an action fighting and not an mostly accurat simulation of an war (or part of an War) - then the whole point of an e...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

...... Matrix Games - John Tiller's Campaign Series is not a game on the same scale as OoB WWII. For example, it is possible to put several units in the same hexagon : s318_campaign_shot-014.jpg We cannot compare these two games for this reason. PS: According to the range of artillery in OoB, the s...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

....... The fact that this game can portray Someri as an islet, or a continent, is a tribute to its flexibility of scope. It is for this reason that unit counters do not show size designations. If I am told that Someri was a minor battle on a small island, I have no trouble envisioning platoons and...

Re: Does simulating history matter in OOB?

Yea - this is one of the things i dislike on OOB .... The game "aiming" on more hardcore strategic players .... but fail with the scale on many "inbuild" scenarios - and even more on downloadable ... I say not, it cant be fun - but only if you dont overthink to many things ... (w...

Re: IS OOB really and truely dead?

@ Erik2 sorry - i was not clear :) The problem is the Strategic Map (btw- what you show and name "map" would i name playfield ....) many loadable scenarios dont fit right the "Strategic Map" or so large, you dont see anything clear ... and so useless... And for the "map"...
