Re: Realism - visibilty and command capabilities

I think playability and fun are important and the current system really maxs out on those things. Plus many inf units are unmanoeuvrable so you can’t do exactly what you want on many occasions already.

Also, routing and pursuit bring unpredictability and mess up the best laid plans.

CRC Check did not Validate Data

I am trying to set up an MP Epic Battle for FoG 2. Non-ranked. I am getting the error, "Upload failed. CRC check did not validate data."

Same issue for regular MP games. I verified my files on Steam but still no joy..

I have all the DLCs.

Re: Large spear units

You do have to differentiate between the medium foot and the heavies. That is the first thing. A couple of years ago I produced some top ten worst units for all the periods. Welsh Spear were amongst the absolute worst. I noted as you do their weakness and relatively high cost. Maybe someone watched ...

Re: FOG2 Ancients Open Beta v1.6.8 changelog

I appreciate all the constant updates for Ancients and Medieval. Very welcome and appreciated from the community. Some developers do little but that can’t be said for the FoG 2 games.

Re: computer requirements

Dedicated GPU is a big deal. I always try to get the cheapest one for my next Windows laptop. Also, a company like Nvidia regularly updates the drivers frequently throughout the year. Some of the services and programs that get bundled in are also useful like the video recording software, etc.

Re: Persian Elephants

I don't know of specific examples as in battles. Ctesias, physician to Artaxerxes II, mentions war elephants in his book, Indica. He also claimed to have seen elephants being used in Babylon.

Re: Persian Elephants

And these elephants in the Persian army theoretically appeared only once, at Gaugamella, or were they a permanent component of the Persian army? Because if it was a single use, what's the point of introducing them to the permanent unit roster? You could have them in one list as in the mod. There is...

Re: Persian Elephants

Paul, TT Mod creator, said this in Discord: "Actually the TT Mod already contains a Gaugamela only Achaemenid list containing a small number of elephants (plus Guard Lancers). My source was the Field of Glory tabletop rules Immortal Fire army list book which allows a small number of these exoti...

Persian Elephants

I mentioned this in the Discord group but thought I would on the forum, too. In my research the usual suspects such as the Indian, Carthaginian, Greek and Roman lists have access to elephants. However, even though there are some historical references (such as at Gaugamela) to the Persians using war ...

I think two weeks is being extremely polite to someone who hasn’t taken their turn. One week too short, but I think two weeks is fair to all.

Re: Development wishlist

Just a request, if it is possible: After a match has ended, it appears on the "completed" tab qnd we can watch the last turn but, unfortunately, we can't send any more messages to our opponent. It would be good to send a message as to tell him (or they tell us) that we are going to set an...

Re: Epic battles not as good as DLC campaigns

I am making a series for YouTube on the Epic Battles. Pydna is quite fun so far. I am Macedonia and I have an elephant to deal with on my left, rough ground patches in the centre, and a swarm of light horse and cav on my right. A lot of decisions to make on where I move. An entertaining battle.

I am not a fan of cavalry heavy armies. However, they do bring something different to the game which makes it better with all the variations and numerous match-ups, etc.

Re: Low Figures for Multiplayer Mode

For me, live multiplayer for this game is not really practical. A turn can take 6-10 mins, especially in the middle of a game. I play a game called Chaos Reborn and with just a handful of figures we can play with 1-min timers. Live games are possible (although even then if 4-6 players are playing th...
