I know but if you put an infantry unit beside a cavalry unit in the open and push them forward as far as they can go you can see the distance covered is too short for a cavalry unit... and cavalry also needs to take care of ZoCs and terrain penalties. It does. I just wish the cavalry was easier to manouver and displayed the speed it had. While it is fast enough, the problem of ZOC and terrain basically render it extremely hard to be successful with. Increasing their AP did the trick. See Eriss, the only problem i have with the movement is not the speed but the maneuverability. Even though the Cav can avoid being charged it has serious problems with terrain and with ZOC. Teppo are the perfect skirmishers... hard to catch and can do some serious damage if left unchecked. I find them very strong in defense when you place them in the woods but to keep them shooting you must shoot either the second lines from your flanks or just plainly go to engage other missile units ...

Try to make the enemy engage in a spot where you can shoot them from the flanks. That's where you should push your teppo. They are the perfect skirmishers and they are hard to catch.

Yep I used to play SoW and TC2M with restricted view. Same with TW engine (the R2 way is the best ... sadly battles are simply too small). Modernization of the army and conscription in mass numbers didn't allow the real training used by the warlords of the initial period. I don't know how they are implemented in the late game, all I know is the Tenka Fubu... in theory their units should be bigger and the ashigaru should take different ...

I agree it is a very good game but Gshock`s points on some of the strategic play are quite valid. No Army can constantly refuse battle and the idea that one should let the defender chase the attacker around the map is ridiculous.
