Re: Different Seasons

What I especially wouldn't want from any fog of war mechanic is hiding or obscuring more of the opponents units (unless the battle is occurring in actual fog or at night). More detailed line of sights are tricky to display and unintuitive to eyeball on large scale square grid. What I mean by large s...

Re: Different Seasons

I wouldn't want a fog of war but visual effects for actual fog would be great (and other weather effects as well).

Re: Is there any plan on mid medieval, late medieval or even renaissance DLCs?

Yes, 32 figures maximum per unit would probably be enough. We could have 4 figure sleeves of arquebusiers at each corner, leaving 16 figures to make up the pike square in the middle. Of course, we could not fit 32 current scale figures into a tile, so either the tiles would have to be bigger or the...

Re: Is there any plan on mid medieval, late medieval or even renaissance DLCs?

The FoG2 rules (especially for shooting and ammo) would become a bit insufficient when getting into European Pike & Shot era. That would be easily fixed. FOG2 is a development of Pike and Shot Campaigns, and uses very similar scripts, it would be easy for the developer to change the FOG2 rules to s...

Re: Is there any plan on mid medieval, late medieval or even renaissance DLCs?

The FoG2 rules (especially for shooting and ammo) would become a bit insufficient when getting into European Pike & Shot era. I do hope that FoG2 will eventually go it bit further than beginning of 16th century if East Asia (and maybe even Americas) is added. I prefer the FoG2 style unit graphics an...

Re: Non-lancer cavalry tactics

I would like the cavalry to have a bit more predictable behavior and give them a little bit more staying power in melee against infantry. I'm not the greatest fan of the still extremely rock-paper-scissors like nature of cavalry-vs-spearmen combat that overemphasizes the "stickiness" of the cavalry ...

Re: Ambush battles?

There are many ways to achieve similar end results of course. My suggestion is just what I considered the most simple way to portray the army scuffling to formation when faced with unexpected enemy.

Re: Printable Reference Charts?

Other than the POA tables I don't think there's much reference material that you can't see more conveniently in-game.

Would RBS happen to have an up to date POA table that could be shared to the public?

Re: Ambush battles?

Seems a bit weak to only have the troops moderately disordered. For instance, at Roncevalles, Frankish heavy cavalry was totally wiped out by unarmored Basque forces; moderately disordered doesn't seem enough for that to happen. Maybe have it so that skirmisher firing automatically makes non-light ...

Re: Superior Medium infantry

In any case, Zealots don't perform better than legionaries against pikes in melee and have similar performance on impact. The pikes might have been disrupted due to terrain, which would not effect Zealots as they are medium foot, or it was a fluke which happens.

Re: Ambush battles?

Yeah, I hope we'll see an ambush battle at some point :). A generic ambush battle type could be a larger army is in marching line in the middle of the map with the enemy units about 4 tiles away on their flank(s). The non-light unit of the ambushed army could be moderately disordered for rando time ...

Re: Ambush battles?

Having the ambushed units moderately disordered for a number of turns could be nice option for proper ambush battles like the Teutoburg forest. In the battle of Megiddo it takes the Egyptians one turn to literally turn their marching formation into completely organized battle line. I would not cons...

Re: My Poorly Armed Rabble is stronger than it should

To me rout buffer seems more realistic than throw-away infantry. At least some "barbarian" armies had non-combatants acting as cheering squad and spectators. Some high medieval peasant infantry probably had pretty much similar role in practice. When there have been very low quality units in ancient/...

Re: Kill List

Combat Missions are definitely some of the best games at generating stories and the list of kills is a must-have feature there (and the vehicle hit decals took way to long to include :) ). My favorite story (from BfN) is an US infantry sergeant that lost his entire squad to and MG-42 while crossing ...

Re: Newbie needs some help

If you have extremely high quality units you might want to disband them and get new ones. This mainly concerns units like the legionaries who are typically good enough to beat almost anything out of the box and after a few battles the low total number of units will hurt you more than the excessive p...

Re: Kill List

Mord's suggestion is starting to sound more and more like Combat Mission :D. List of kills definitely tells a lot more in those games than it would in FoG2 and having similar post-battle stats would be nice. There's of course no reason not to track kills among other things but on its own it's pretty...

Re: QUESTION: Export Multi-Player Battle?

It would nice to get a map seed after a battle has ended. Sometimes the generation produces really interesting maps that I'd like to replay with other armies.
