Does this work?
I found and downloaded a Test.BAM file, is that it? If so, now I just need to figure out how to load it, I haven't played a single-player game in ages.

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

hmmm, now up to 12 double-breaks vs none for my opponent. Every single warband on the left half of my line has double-broken. Most of these have been straight-up, one-on-one fights in open terrain. Extraordinary.

Pete, could you send me the scenario you've been using for testing?

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

I'd be happy to help with testing, although probably not 1000 times... Is there any reason to think that single player tests would have different results from multiplayer?

Probably just bad luck but I do think it is worth investigating a bit.

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

If you were to smash Warbands head to head, double drops occurring should be the expected norm! Not the exception! Do you now see why I view arguments that say luck "ruined" their strategies or plans with such skepticism? Of course some double-drops are to be expected, but shouldn't they happen to ...

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

The nature of random events is that they are random - i.e. they are not evenly spread. Sometimes there will be more than the average number of fringe results, sometimes there will be less. I know you know this already, but it needs to be said for anyone who is under the delusion that there is somet...

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

@stockwellpete, Interesting, thanks for the data. I have to agree that games in which entire wings of an army disintegrate due to double-breaks are not particularly interesting. I see double-breaks particularly often in games with warbands or phalanxes, but unfortunately most of the battles that I p...

Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

I brought this up shortly after the game came out, but want to bring it up again...in my view double-breaks (ie, going from Good Order to Fragmented) happen far too frequently in FOG2... I'm currently playing a game in which both sides are made up of more or less evenly matched warbands. On one of m...

Re: Charge cavalry too weak

I think Leonardus is being picked on needlessly, when A he likely hasn’t played the game too long and B possibly isnt a native English speaker... OK, but with all due respect, it is a bit difficult for me to take someone seriously when they say this to RBS: You're not knowing what you're talking ab...

Re: (Army) tech advancement

Phalanx don't get an improved version, they are stuck with the unit archetype the game starts with. Heavy infantries get an improved version. Legions get two improved generations. Plus Phalanx, although powerful, fare badly in difficult terrain and are useless in city assaults, so they are not indo...

Re: (Army) tech advancement

What about units/armies degrading over time? Units do not always continually improve; phalanxes probably reached their peak under Alexander, then slowly declined, etc. Various other lists in FOG2 also demonstrate this phenomenon, I think it would be important to somehow reflect it.

Re: Hellenistic Campaign circa 280 B.C.

The plucky Spaniards defeated the Macedonians 28-55. The Spaniards refused their right flank and were able to use some favorable hilly terrain to their advantage and crushed the Macedonian right wing before their left wing could be brought to bear.

Re: Anyone Have Any Success...

I've played many PBEM games as slaves and lost all of them but one, although a few of the others were quite close. The game which I won turned out to be less about terrain than the Roman player bulling ahead and exposing his flanks.

thanks, was not aware of the "threatened flank" exception to ZOC-locks...seems to defeat the purpose but good to know in any event.

Still can't figure ZOC...

OK, I've played many many games now and would have thought that I'd have figured out ZOC by now, but apparently not... I've got a game going on now in which the enemy hoplite unit highlighted in blue was facing my scutarii unit highlighted in red. I thought that the hoplite should have been ZOC-lock...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

script vs code. Scripts is 'interpreted language', it means that the game read text files with instructions and create game rules from it. Anyone can edit these text files. Any modder or any player. And so it means that if you want to edit, create or delete game rules you can. This is something tha...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

This looks quite interesting, but I have a couple of questions: 1) Any chance that this will ship with a map editor, or even better, a random world generator ala Agressors? 2) What can you say, if anything, about "modability", ie, tweaking game parameters via xml settings or scripts (again, ala Agre...

Re: Where to start?

I play random maps on the Medium AI level, but if you increase the Diplomacy setting by one notch it seems to make a big difference in how often you are at war--there are still many wars, but not constant, vs the whole world :-)
